So. Bell & Co. began more than two decades ago with a simple belief: the things we surround ourselves with should add beauty, meaning, and a little joy to everyday life.

From the beginning, creating beautiful objects and spaces was only part of the story. Creating meaningful experiences mattered just as much. Over the years, some of our favorite things happened when people simply gathered together.

Around workshop tables, women learned to design stationery, paint with watercolor, create handmade party décor, and set beautiful tables of their own. And each fall, for nearly a decade, The Little Teeny Farm became a gathering place for the community—a free fall market celebrating local entrepreneurs and the thoughtfully made goods they brought with them.

But the heart behind those gatherings has never changed. Giving back remains part of the rhythm of So. Bell & Co.—whether painting murals for children’s spaces, decorating homes for single mothers, hosting celebrations for first responders, or simply finding ways to use what we have to serve the people around us.

And as our community has grown, these things remain unchanged: our belief in good stories, thoughtful details, beautiful gifts, and the rather wonderful idea that joy doesn’t have to be grand to matter. It simply has to be shared.

So. Bell & Co. was founded by Brandy Bell, a designer, writer, artist, and lifelong collector of stories, beautiful details, and slightly impractical ideas that are simply too good not to pursue.

Her first known business venture came at the age of four, when—with the enthusiastic encouragement of her parents—she glued holly berries, leaves, and tiny pebbles onto sheets of notebook paper and sold her creations door-to-door to the neighbors for one dollar. Painted rocks soon followed. In hindsight, there were signs.

What began at the kitchen table became a lifelong love of creating. Brandy began working in design while still in high school and has spent three decades designing residential and commercial spaces and nearly twenty-five years creating custom artwork for clients. Through it all, she has remained fascinated by the way thoughtful design can make people feel—welcomed, delighted, remembered, inspired.

Today, that same curiosity finds its way into all sorts of things. Sometimes it becomes a book, sometimes a watercolor, sometimes a collection of illustrated cards, and sometimes a product that began as nothing more than a scribbled idea and a very strong feeling that it needed to exist.

Brandy believes the world could always use a little more wonder, a little more beauty, and a whole lot more joy.

So that is exactly what we’re making.

We believe how something is made matters almost as much as what is made.

At So. Bell & Co., we try to make thoughtful choices at every step—from the people we work with to the box that arrives at your door. We won't always get everything rigth, but there are a few things you can count on us to keep working toward.

We’ll choose small when we can.

Small businesses, independent makers, local artists, and fellow entrepreneurs are a big part of our story. Whenever there is an opportunity to work with them, support them, or make a little more room at the table, we will.

We’ll be thoughtful about what we use.

Whenever possible, we source packaging and materials that are made in America and environmentally responsible. And when perfectly good packing materials arrive at our own door, you can bet we’ll find a way to use them again. A good box deserves a second act.

We’ll make things where craftsmanship still matters.

Our products are made in America and Europe by manufacturing partners, artisans, printers, and craftspeople chosen with care. We believe good things are worth making well—and that knowing where and how something is made matters.

We’ll keep looking for ways to give back.

Supporting our communities is foundational. We’ll keep finding ways to serve, champion others, and leave things a little better than we found them.

And we will do so with gratitude, thoughtfulness, a generous spirit, and plenty of joy.
